Why CABLE GANGZ?
Why Choose CABLE GANGZ?
Chain/cable/picket type tie-out systems have been used for sporting dogs for many years. Most handlers don’t want the hassle and additional weight associated with chains. Plus, chains tend to get absurdly dirty (think mud + dog poop) and tangle easily. CABLE GANGZ tie-out systems are comparably light weight and clean up easily with a water hose and a towel. Storage is simple with our cable gang systems. Coil them up as you would an extension cord or rope and tuck them away for the next use. We use premium galvanized steel cable that is coated with durable, UV resistant, PVC coating. The cable is coated with safety orange, so they are easy to see in the grass when set up (or find if you misplace a drop). Our cable gang systems are in use from Florida to Alaska. They’re utilized by weekend warrior bird hunters, professional retriever and pointing dog trainers, obedience trainers, dog walkers, hound hunters, and sled dog folks. When traveling with dogs, our systems are a must have. Getting dogs safely aired and fed on the road can be a challenge. CABLE GANGZ makes that task easier. A gang takes less than 2 minutes to install and pickup, and a handler can have all of their dogs airing at once. Folks that train multiple dogs also know the benefits of using cable gangs. Dogs can learn patience, to give to neck pressure, and just sit and watch other dogs being worked learning that no matter how much they fuss not every piece of work is intended for them. Whether you have 2-3 personal dogs that you hunt/train, or are a pro that travels days at a time with 20 dogs on your truck, we have a tie-out solution for you. So with several manufacturers offering cable tie-out systems, why should anyone choose CABLE GANGZ? Keep reading to find out.
The Difference
We simply build a better mouse trap. We could end this section there, but here are the dirty details. Our rigging techniques are the same exact ones used by professional riggers in oil/gas, crane and heavy machinery, construction, and shipping industries for overhead lifting. With our experience through the years and detailed study, we have adapted the safest industry standards into our rigging methods. The difference is not hard to see. EVERY other cable tie-out system maker swages their fittings OVER the PVC coating on their cables. The result (pictured below) is they all fail prematurely. “End-prepping” where terminations are made, involves the extremely time-consuming task of removing the last section of the coating so the swages are made METAL TO METAL. A proper swage can only hold to the maximum breaking strength if the metal of the ferrule flows into the dips and valleys of the cable surface when a compression is made. This cannot happen when swages are made over the PVC coating. We not only take the extra time needed to ensure our tie-outs are made right, but we also have all our rigged loops pull tested to failure to ensure the cable fails before our rigged loops fail.
Mainline end termination comparison of a CABLE GANGZ system (left) and a competitor’s system (right). The PVC eventually degrades, and the cable pulls out of the ferrule when under a load. Studies also show that adding more ferrules in-line does nothing to increase the break strength of the end termination. Not even if the cable is bare when swaged, two ferrules fail at the same force that one ferrule fails under.
Drop from a competitor (left) and ours (right) to show the rigging details of proper vs improper rigging techniques. The drop on the left has failed because the swage was made over the PVC coating.
At CABLE GANGZ we take our workmanship very seriously. Our dogs are family to us, just as yours are to you, and we would never trust our own dogs on a system that we knew was not capable of keeping them safe. We aren’t a general hunting dog supply company, there are plenty of great ones out there. The only products we make are tie-outs, and over the years we’ve perfected our craft and worked out the bugs that other companies haven’t even thought about yet. Our systems are expandable, durable, and affordable. We would love to earn your business and work with you to come up with a quality tie-out system to fit your needs.
